Alexis & Jerry married on Valentine’s Day in Sayulita Mexico (our favorite place!). They found a picture of our first 6-panel folding CD holder wedding invitation on theknot.com. This “Bangback” CD holder was invented by one of our favorite printers in Portland, OR, Pinball Publishing, who so beautifully printed the piece with silver, red and turquoise soy inks.

Jerry, a big fan of Mexican wrestling, proposed to Alexis at a Nacho Libre match and asked that the invitation design reflect that. The two-headed bird was inspired by the symbolism used on wrestling masks. The large, square-dot pattern with multiple and overlapping colors is based on the pulp comic look of wrestling posters and ephemera. Interwoven with flowers from Mexican oil cloth and the corazon, we created a depth that reflects the personalities of the couple, the setting and the holiday.

A hand-drawn map by the bride’s father, and RSVP card, CD and mailing labels complete the package. Leftover invitations could be cut up and re-purposed as tags, welcome notes and maps to present to the guest upon arrival and to use for decoration. The CD of salsa music sets the stage for the event and is a wonderful gift for the invitees.

Guests love all of the personal touches and details associated with a wedding. Invitations express the spirit of the couple and event; telling the story of their relationship and creating excitement for the big day.
